SUMMARY

Long, long ago on the shores of the Indian Ocean two men make a solemn promise. Zurga and Nadir will be friends forever. They will be united in having loved and lost the beautiful Leila. But will they keep their promise?

Emma Matthews, Luke Gabbedy, Henry Choo and Jud Arthur star in a captivating production which portrays the land of the Pearl Fishers with masks, gold thread and layers of gauze. Meanwhile Bizet’s music, written ten years before Carmen, is full of the promise of great things to come, a musical tapestry of curiosity and wild imagination.

This is music for dance, for dreaming and, above all, for singing.

Performed in French with English surtitles.
Running time: Two hours and thirty minutes including two twenty-minute intervals.
