Associate Principal Clarinet
The Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra is the performance partner of Australia’s national flagship companies Opera Australia and The Australian Ballet. The AOBO is the resident orchestra at the Sydney Opera House and is seeking expressions of interest from outstanding players for the Associate Principal Clarinet position.
Application procedure
Interested applicants will need to submit two (2) copies of the following by 27 August 2010:
1. Application letter
2. Completed application form
3. Curriculum Vitae
4. Supporting recording (tracked and indexed)
The supporting recording needs to consist of either:
• A recently recorded solo on a commercially available CD
OR
• A recent radio broadcast featuring the applicant in a significant way – either as a soloist or in an exposed piece of operatic, symphonic or chamber music repertoire
OR
• A recording of the following:
- Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto in A K622 (1st movement)
- A piece of own choice (optional)
- Excerpts from:
• Tosca –Act 3 Solo (Rehearsal No.11-12)
• Magic Flute Overture (Bars 65-73, Bars 142-144, Bars 179-92)
• Rosenkavalier – Beginning to Rehearsal No. 6

After the closing date, the audition panel will review material provided by applicants, invite a small number of players to trial with the Orchestra which will include a recital for the permanent members of the orchestra.
