In 2009 Opera Australia expanded the program to include Rockhampton and Sydney. 20 students from schools in each city worked closely with professional performers and musicians from Opera Australia led by Project Director Murray Dahm.

Rockhampton participating schools were Capricornia School of Distance Education, Eammus College, Glenmore State High, North Rockhampton State High and Mt Morgan State High Schools.  On completion of the workshops the four schools will came together at the Pilbeam Theatre to present their pieces before an audience.

2008 WotOpera

WotOpera was first piloted by Opera Australia in Sydney in 2008, where we invited a mix of schools to participate including three schools listed in the NSW Department of Education and Training Priority Schools Program. The schools to participate were Kincoppal Rose-Bay, Miller Technology, Narara Valley and Terrigal High Schools.

“I didn’t know much about opera, & the workshops taught me so much about all aspects of the production & performance that are in an Opera. Writing the libretto & painting the sets was so much fun, I honestly can’t think of anything negative, the whole thing was an amazing experience.” Year 10, Terrigal High
