Background - Moffatt Oxenbould Young Artist Program
More than 100 artists have been through the Moffatt Oxenbould Young Artist Program – named in honour of Oxenbould’s commitment to developing Australian talent – since its inception in 1984.
Among the “graduates” of this Program are Lisa Gasteen, Emma Matthews, Amelia Farrugia, Tiffany Speight and Nicole Youl as well as conductors Antony Walker and Simon Hewett all of whom have made significant contributions to operatic performance in Australia since that time.
The Moffatt Oxenbould Young Artist Program comprises four young
Australians: Jane Parkin (soprano), baritones Samuel Dundas and Andrew Jones and, in his second year, tenor David Corcoran. The program is co-ordinated by the eminent conductor Andrew Greene. Apart from work for main stage productions in Sydney and Melbourne in the capacity of soloists and understudies, participants in the program are given extensive classes in anguages, vocal coaching and tutelage, stagecraft with tutors from the Ntional Institute of Dramatic Art, makeup, defence and acrobatic skills, pus interaction with major operatic soloists in masterclasses.
