Australian mezzo soprano Victoria Lambourn studied at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) in Manchester, graduating with a Bachelor of Music (with Honours), a Postgraduate Diploma in Performance and a Master of Music in Performance. Her studies were sponsored by the Peter Moores Foundation and the Australian Music Foundation Awards.
Victoria’s first operatic role was at the age of 15 when she performed Dido in her school’s production of Dido and Aeneas. Her performance as Angelina inCenerentola for the RNCM led to an invitation to participate in the Accademia Rossiniana in Pesaro (Italy).
On returning to Australia, Victoria was a Young Artist with Opera Queensland. Her operatic roles include Hansel in Hansel and Gretel (State Opera of South Australia), Second Lady in The Magic Flute (Opera Australia), Suzuki in Madame Butterfly and Flora in La Traviata (OzOpera), Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia (Melbourne Opera) and La Badessa in Suor Angelica (Macau International Music Festival).
On the concert platform, Victoria has sung the alto solo in many oratorios in the UK, and performed with the Hallé Orchestra and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic’s Ensemble 10/10. In Australia, she has taken the alto solos in Messiah with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Beethoven’s Symphony No.9 with the Canberra Symphony, Brahms’ Alto Rhapsody with the Canberra Choral Society and has appeared as soloist with Orchestra Victoria, Akademisches Orchester Stuttgart and Sydney Philharmonia. She has given two concert tours of China and was principal mezzo in Universal Studio’s Christmas Concert in Japan.
In 2011, Victoria sang Florence Pike in Albert Herring for Victorian Opera, performed in concert at the Tianjin Opera House (China), appeared as soloist with Orchestra Victoria and continued her association with Opera Australia as a principal artist. 2012 saw appearances as Second Lady for Opera Australia, Dorabella (Cosi fan tutte) for Melbourne Opera and the release of Lakmé on the ABC Classics label - an album of arias and duets with soprano Milica Ilic.
In 2013, Victoria Lambourn will sing Rosmira in Partenope and Juno in Orpheus in the Underworld for Opera Australia.
