Collection of information will occur at the time you purchase your tickets from Opera Australia. Tickets may be purchased by telephone, in person, on our website at www.opera-australia.org.au, by facsimile, email or post. Please note in the case of online bookings that on some occasions the Opera Australia website may link you to the Sydney Opera House website for Sydney performances or the Arts Centre website for Melbourne performances. We collect information about you in order to deliver your ticket, process your payment arrangements, contact you in the case of cancellation or major disruption of a performance and/or to replace lost tickets.
When you book a ticket or tickets through any of Opera Australia's sales channels, or give Opera Australia information for any other purposes such as joining the mailing list, your personal information will be entered into a database. The database is a ticketing system which is shared by Opera Australia with other Australian (usually NSW based) arts organisations (Organisations) for the purposes of ticketing.
The current Organisations are Sydney Opera House, the Australian Chamber Orchestra, the Seymour Theatre Centre, The Brandenburg Orchestra and Bell Shakespeare Company. Other similar arts entities may become Organisations in future, and they will also be able to view your contact details.
The Organisations are able to view your name and contact details and this helps ensure the speed and efficiency of any of your dealings with the Organisations. When you book your ticket(s), or otherwise provide us with personal information, you consent to your names and contact details, which are entered on the database, being disclosed to the Organisations for the purposes of ticketing only.
Unless you tell us otherwise Opera Australia may, in addition to the above, use this information to send you material about future Opera Australia related performances and events and to conduct market research. In order to facilitate these activities and research, Opera Australia may need to provide this information to organisations that provide services to Opera Australia such as mailing houses and research companies but will not otherwise share your information for research or marketing purposes with any other organisation.
We will share aggregated demographic information with our partners and advertisers. This is not linked to any personal information that can identify an individual person.

We request customer information including contact information and financial information (credit card number and expiration date) on our ticket or subscription order form. This information is used for billing purposes and to fill ticket orders. If we have trouble processing an order, this contact information is used to get in touch with the user.
A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user's hard drive containing information about the user. When you visit our site, our host records your server address, domain name, the date and time of the visit and the pages viewed. This information does not personally identify you, but it does tell us that your computer has visited our site and what areas of the site have been browsed. If a user disables the use of cookies, they may still use our site, but they may be limited in some areas of our site. Cookies enable us to anonymously track the interests of our users, enhance their experience and may be used for statistical and website development reasons.

If a user wishes to sign up to receive our newsletter, we ask for contact information such as name, address and email address.
From time-to-time Opera Australia requests information from users via surveys or contests. Participation in these surveys or contests is completely voluntary and each customer has a choice whether or not to disclose this information. Information requested may include contact information (such as name and delivery address), and demographic information (such as postcode, age level). Contact information will be used to notify the winners and award prizes. Survey information will be used for purposes of monitoring or improving our products and services.
Opera Australia maintains a refer-a-friend service to enable customers to tell others about our site and e-newsletters. When the customer enters their friend's name and email address into the system, they are stored for the sole purpose of sending a single email inviting them to visit the site. To become a part of our list that receives regular email updates, the friend will need to opt in to receive our e-newsletter. The friend may contact Opera Australia at privacy.officer@opera-australia.org.au to request the removal of their information from our database.
Opera Australia's payment system transmits your credit card details directly to its server via industry standard SSL encryption. This means that your data is only visible to our authorised order processing personnel. Your data is encrypted so any unauthorised third party intercepting your data will not be able to make sense of it.
Your browser and internet connection will need to support SSL encryption and Javascript to utilise our online payment system. Your browser is able to transmit encrypted data if a padlock icon appears on the bottom status bar of your browser window when you enter the purchasing area of our website, or if the beginning of the web page URL "https://".

Opera Australia sends a monthly e-newsletter plus occasional emails on our products, services, and special offers as required to our email database. To receive this newsletter, please opt-in using the links on our website. You may elect to opt out of receiving these communications using the unsubscribe links contained in each message, or through the 'My Account' section on our website.
When required, we communicate with our customers to provide requested services and in regards to issues relating to their account via email or phone.
If a user's personally identifiable information changes (such as your postcode), or if a user no longer desires our service, they can correct, update or remove their personal data on our database by emailing privacy.officer@opera-australia.org.au

Concession pricing is available to
When placing your booking you will need a photocopy of your Proof of Age, Student ID or pensioner concession card, and be able to present this if requested at performances. Concessions are not available on Saturday Evenings.
Tickets sold to Opera Australia performances are subject to Opera Australia’s conditions of sale and to the requirements of the venue at which our performances are presented.
Opera Australia has established a procedure for the processing of subscription applications and we detail that procedure below for your information.
Seating will be allocated strictly in the date order in which applications are received in each subscription category. The categories themselves will be prioritised as follows:
• Renewing Set Series subscriptions without changes
• Renewing Set Series subscriptions with changes
• Renewing Choose Your Own subscriptions
• New Set Series subscribers
• New Choose Your Own subscriptions
• Youth subscriptions
Payment by cheque, money order or credit card must accompany your application. We can only accept instalments for payments made by credit card. Your cheque or money order will be banked, or credit card will be debited, on receipt of your application to establish priority for your application within Opera Australia’s ticketing system.
Set Series Subscriptions will close on Friday 21 September 2012. Choose Your Own subscriptions will be accepted throughout the season. Subscribers will receive their tickets within 8-10 weeks.
Opera Australia will use its best endeavours to satisfy your application, however, allocation of tickets is subject to availability.
Should Opera Australia be unable to satisfy ticket requests, the customer will be contacted and alternatives discussed or monies refunded.
Subscription ticket exchanges can be made from Monday 19 November 2012 and up to two working days before a performance.Exchanges are subject to availability and can only be processed through Opera Australia’s Ticket Services Office. A ticket exchange fee may apply. There are no exchanges on Youth subscriptions.
The right of admission is reserved.
The right is reserved to vary, substitute or withdraw advertised programs, artists and seating arrangements.
There are no refunds or exchanges except as outlined in the Entertainment Code of Fair Practice.
Cameras and other recording devices are prohibited in the venue’s auditorium. Mobile telephones, pagers and similar equipment must be turned off before entry into the venue’s auditorium.
Performances may be unsuitable for children under eight years of age.
Patrons arriving late will not be able to be admitted into the venue’s auditorium until there is a suitable break in the performance.
You acknowledge that you are responsible for your own safety and property and for the safety and property of any person accompanying you.
To the extent permitted by the law, you release Opera Australia from any liability for any damage, loss, liability or injury you may suffer in relation to your attendance at a venue, howsoever caused including due to any negligence or other act or omission of Opera Australia.
Opera Australia is not liable to you for any claims, damages, compensation, losses or expenses as a result of an Opera Australia performance being cancelled, postponed or changed.
Opera Australia respects your privacy. If the information is not provided Opera Australia may not be able to provide these services.

The following terms and conditions apply to bookings of less than 200 tickets. For bookings of 200 or more tickets for a single performance, additional conditions may be applicable.
If you purchase 8 or more tickets for the same performance in the same reserve, you will receive a discount of up to 20%.
Group tickets cannot be transferred or exchanged.
Booking Deposit
No deposit is required. Seats will be held until six weeks (42 days) prior to the performance, at which time confirmation of booking and final ticket numbers are due.
Payment:
Payment is due no later than six weeks (42 days) prior to the performance. If your paymnt is not received within these terms, your booking may be cancelled.
Payment Method:
Credit card, cash, cheque and direct deposit accepted within terms.
Cancellations, no shows and reduction in numbers:
Once payment has been made, no refund is possible. We cannot refund you for members of your group who fail to show up or if your group size reduces after full payment has been received.
Ticket collection:
Please specify at the time of booking if you would like tickets mailed to you or your client, or held at the venue Customer Service Desk for collection on the performance date.
Gift Vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase. The performance must be booked within this 12-month period but the performance itself can be for a date outside of this period.
There is no minimum amount for gift vouchers.
Gift Vouchers may be redeemed over the phone, by post or in person at Opera Australia, 480 Elizabeth Street Surry Hills.
Where the value of items purchased is greater than the value of the Gift Voucher, the difference is payable by the Gift Voucher recipient. Where the value of items is purchased is less than the value of the Gift Voucher, the remaining value will be held on account by Opera Australia for future purchases by the Gift Voucher holder. Original expiry conditions will apply.
The recipient must provide full contact details when redeeming a Gift Voucher.
The Gift Voucher identification code must be quoted when redeeming.
Lost, stolen or deleted Gift Voucher cannot be replaced.
Opera Australia's standard processing and handling fees will apply on redemption of Gift Voucher.
Gift Voucher can only be redeemed for events sold directly through Opera Australia. Gift Voucher issued by Opera Australia cannot be redeemed for tickets purchased through venue box offices or other agencies selling tickets to performances by Opera Australia.
For the comfort and convenience of all patrons, latecomers can only be admitted into the auditorium at a suitable break in the performance. Suitable breaks vary between operas and may not be until the first interval. If a suitable break prior to interval is identified, latecomers may not be seated in their ticketed seats, rather in an area adjacent an entrance, where minimal disruption will be caused to seated attendees. This is at the discretion of venue staff. Ticket refunds or exchanges are not available on the basis of late arrival. Opera Australia strongly recommends planning your journey to ensure you arrive at the venue well in advance of the scheduled performance commencement.
All attendees regardless of age must hold a valid ticket to be admitted to the auditorium. This includes children and infants who must have their own seat, and cannot sit on the lap of a parent or guardian. We ask that parents and guardians consider the comfort and enjoyment of other audience members if bringing infants and small children to the Opera.
For the safety and security of all patrons, prams or baby capsules of any description cannot be taken into the auditorium. Aisles, stairways and stairwells must be kept clear at all times.
If tickets are lost replacement tickets can be collected from the Opera Australia Customer Service Desk from one hour before the start of the performance
Orders are subject to availability. Opera Australia works with a third party supplier and orders stock according to expected demand. Opera Australia attempts to ensure that the amount of stock availability is accurate however unexpected demand or supply difficulties may mean that delivery costs and times may vary from the below. If we are unable to fulfil your order for any reason we will contact you, and refund the payment you have made.
Every attempt has been made to ensure that the descriptions, prices and specifications listed on this website are correct. All dimensions are approximate and although we endeavour to represent colours accurately, some variations may occur.
Opera Australia reserves the right to cancel orders in when an error has occurred in pricing or when it believes that the order is fraudulent. In that event Opera Australia will refund to you any amount received by it.
If the package containing the product purchased is mis-addressed by Opera Australia then Opera Australia will be responsible for the re-delivery, replacement or refunding of the product. However, if the address is in accordance with information provided by the customer and is found to be incorrect or if the package cannot be delivered to that address then Opera Australia will not be required to re-send or refund the product and all responsibility for the redelivering or replacement will be borne by the customer.
If you wish to return a product for any reason you must do so within 28 days of delivery. The product must be returned in its original and unopened plastic packaging in order for Opera Australia to refund you the cost of the product.
If an item is defective or damaged on delivery you must state the nature of the defect or damage on return in order to be considered for refund.
All returns must be posted securely or delivered by hand to the Opera Centre in Sydney or Melbourne. Please include a copy of your order confirmation, and provide a reason for the return. You will not be reimbursed for return shipping unless the item is faulty.
Returns are dealt with as soon as they arrive, but please allow 14 days for your return to be processed. Your refund will be processed to the credit card with which you originally paid for your order.
Delivery times vary depending on destination and source. The size, weight and distance your parcel has to travel will determine how much postage your item costs.
Opera Australia endeavours to ensure that delivery timeframes given are accurate. However the delivery times stated for products are based on the availability of stock from our suppliers. By placing an order with Opera Australia you agree not to hold Opera Australia liable for any loss or damage directly or indirectly arising out of or in connection with any delay or failure to deliver within the estimated timeframe.
Shipping costs are based on those charged by Australia Post, and may change without notice.
Domestic Delivery is lodged through Australia Post standard parcel delivery services. Regular postal delivery is between 1-5 days working days of lodgement.
Overseas customers can choose to have their goods shipped to an international address.
If you require urgent delivery we recommend that you use Australia Post’s Express Post service. Domestic deliveries are guaranteed next-day deliveries.
Where we have noted approximate delivery times, these are estimates only and cannot be guaranteed. Opera Australia is not be liable for any late delivery and is not be liable for any loss, damage or delay occasioned to the customer or any other persons arising from late delivery.

To the extent permitted by law, all conditions or warranties expressed or implied by law are excluded and the liability of Opera Australia in respect of any cause of action whatsoever is limited to either the resupply of goods or the refund of the cost of the item and postage. Opera Australia shall not be liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising out of or in connection with the contract of sale for the item.
Nothing in these terms and conditions is intended to limit or exclude any liability on Opera Australia’s part where and to the extent that applicable law prohibits such exclusion or limitation.
Opera Australia cannot be responsible for incorrect purchases relating to compatibility. You must ensure that the CD or DVD is of a type that can be played in the equipment used by you. For example, some SACD discs cannot be played on all CD players and Blu Ray DVDs can only be played on Blu Ray players. Opera Australia will refund or exchange for equal value to the original if the packaging is unopened and saleable, but postage costs will not be refunded.
